Custom Fields Grouping & Bulk Management - Forms, Surveys & Quizzes

Modified on Tue, 18 Aug at 7:37 AM

Adding custom fields one at a time gets tedious fast — especially when you're building a long form with dozens of contact, opportunity, or custom-object fields. We've overhauled the
Custom Fields
sidebar in the builder to be faster, smarter, and easier on the eyes. Now you can browse fields by object, search by name, select multiple at once, and drop them onto your canvas as a group. ?
What's New
The
Custom Fields
sidebar has been redesigned end-to-end with a focus on speed and clarity, and now brings a unified custom-field management experience across:
  • Forms
  • Surveys
  • Quizzes
You can now select multiple custom fields at once and add them together — either by clicking "
Add N fields
" or by dragging the selection onto the canvas as a group.
Key Highlights
  • Multi-select checkboxes
on every field row for fast batch selection
  • "
    Add N field
s" button to bulk-insert every selected field into the canvas in one click
  • Multi-field drag & drop— drag multiple selected fields at once with a stacked preview and
    +N
    badge
showing how many are being moved
  • Smart insertion point
     - bulk-added fields land right after the currently active canvas element (works in Forms, Surveys, and Quizzes) instead of always at the end
  • Object dropdown
to switch between Contact, Opportunity, Business, and any custom objects — see just the fields relevant to what you're building
  • Tooltips on truncated names
     - hover a field with a long name and see the full name; same for query keys
How It Works
  1. Open any
    Form, Survey, or Quiz
     in the builder.
  2. Switch to the
    Add Object Fields
     tab in the left sidebar.

  1. Pick an object (Contact, Opportunity, Business, or a custom object) from the dropdown.
  2. Optionally search by field name or expand a folder to browse.
  3. Check the fields you want using the checkboxes on the left of each row.

  1. Either:
  • Click "
    Add N fields
" at the bottom of the sidebar to insert the whole selection at once, OR
  • Drag
any selected field onto the canvas — every checked field comes along as a group.
  1. The fields land on the canvas in the exact order they appear in the sidebar, right after whichever element you had active (or at the end of the slide/page if nothing was active).
That's it — a full contact section that used to take a dozen clicks now takes two. ?
Selection Made Predictable
  • Selections stay intact while you scroll and search, so you can build up a batch across folders.
  • Switching the object dropdown (Contact → Opportunity, etc.) clears the selection automatically — no ghost counts in the action bar.
  • Shift-clicking selects a range that skips already-added or blocked fields — you'll never accidentally re-add a field that's already on the canvas.
  • The selection bar at the bottom shows exactly how many fields are queued (e.g.,"
    3 selected"•"Add 3 fields")
    .
Notes
  • Existing Forms, Surveys, and Quizzes work exactly as before — nothing about your saved builders changes.
  • Bulk-inserted fields go through the same validation and normalization as a single drag, so contact standard fields, business fields, custom-object fields, and rating fields all behave identically to a one-at-a-time drop.
  • One-question-per-slide
setting (Survey) is respected: bulk-inserted fields are automatically split onto their own slides where appropriate.
  • Available across
    Forms, Surveys, and Quizzes
with parity — the same interactions work identically in every builder.
  • By making custom fields multi-selectable, searchable by object, and droppable as a group, we're helping builders assemble long, structured forms in a fraction of the time — with fewer clicks, fewer mistakes, and a sidebar that finally feels like it can keep up with your workflow.
